WAC placement is based on an individual’s ability to work under limited supervision, while maintaining a prescribed level of production skills. Individualized training assists with skill development that may lead to participation in Small Group Employment and/or placement in competitive integrated employment.
Small Group Employment takes small groups of individuals (3-5), accompanied by staff, to local businesses to work alongside the employees of that business. Team members develop vocational and interpersonal skills that are needed to be successful in the workplace. This program provides opportunity to develop confidence and achievement in reaching the goal of competitive integrated employment.
Individuals supported in this program are provided with a variety of community integrated and learning opportunities that enhance daily life skills and experiences. The services are provided in staff assisted group settings designed to meet the interests, needs and abilities of each person. Offered activities may include social/life skill development, small and gross motor skills, leisure and recreational activities and educational and learning programs. This program is also licensed by the Office of Long Term Living.
The individuals in this program are diagnosed with ASD and are motivated in an individualized manner to foster independence. The activities focus on unique socially significant programming. Individuals may choose to work on vocational skill training, volunteer opportunities, social/recreation activities, and community exploration.
Individuals in this program spend the majority of their day (supported by EARS staff) participating in activities in the community. EARS is a “Hub” or meeting place for the participants to start and end their day. Individuals in this program may choose from a variety of settings that provide opportunities to volunteer, explore employment interests, and engage in leisure activities.
